Laptops are complex little machines with a variety of configuration options which can lead to very confusing buying decisions. In this article, we are going to cover out factors that one should consider before purchasing a laptop. These 6 factors are the crux of any laptop purchase and by using these as a guideline, you can land the most appropriate mobile PC for your needs.
1- Weight
The lighter the laptop, the easier it is to move around. Prices usually have an inverse relationship with the weight of a laptop. Hence the lightest of laptops will almost (always) cost more than the heaviest ones.
Another relationship is the features of a laptop which would affect the weight of the laptop, which can be if it has a powerful graphics card, or a larger screen etc. The laptop will end up being comparatively heavier and more expensive. So keep a look out for that.
2- Power Consumption
Battery life is critical for users who are on the go. On an average workload, a regular low budget laptop would easily give you 2.5 to 3 hours of battery time. A fairly good machine would easily clock in 4 hours.
These are battery times for regular 6-cell batteries and 9-cell batteries have longer backup times. However, power consumption varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and model to model. Additional features usually result in a powerful drain on battery supply. If you are mostly mobile, power consumption becomes a critical factor to consider.
3- Processing Power
Laptops are almost more expensive than a desktop with similar specifications and so, it is essential to opt for a level of processing power that matches your current and near future needs.
For office work only, an entry-level processor such as the single core Celeron is more than enough. For multimedia enthusiasts and power users, a Core 2 duo or equivalent processor is recommended.
4- Warranty
Locally manufactured laptops usually have a sound local warranty that can span over a time period of a year and beyond. International warranties allow one to take a laptop to any country and in case of trouble, hand it to the sales and support outlet there for repair.
Most warranties allow non-physically damaged laptops to be repaired or replaced free of cost in the first year and cover parts and repairs in the following years at an approximate cost to the customer.
5- Operating System
For most users, the operating system (OS) plays a very important role. If one opts for Windows Vista, the laptop is likely to be more expensive mostly because the OS requires the latest hardware.
Of course, it is a feature rich operating environment but that is the price one pays for the latest and the greatest. Other than that, a user can choose from Linux, Windows XP and Mac OS X.
6- Brand Matters
It is easy to choose unbranded systems for the sake of lower prices but that does not necessarily mean that one would get much value or quality. Most no-name companies have a lack of spare parts, precarious warranties and unstable configurations.
Make sure that you have read enough reviews and are sure about the quality of the manufacturer before you make a purchase decision

Technology in education.
Many people warn of the possible harmful effects of using technology in the classroom. Will children lose their ability to relate to other human beings? Will they become dependent on technology to learn? Will they find inappropriate materials? The same was probably said when the inventions of the telivision and radio were being made. But thats just what people do when something positive comes along they always analise it to be something bad and nothing of what we can benefit from. But all these aspects of technology have become tools for the development of higher order thinking skills.
Twenty-five years ago, having a computer in your classroom—or for that matter, your school—was a mark of distinction. The idea of bringing the high-tech into schools was still somewhat cutting edge. But today, things are different. In fact, no school seems complete without a full complement of desktop computers, as well as other relatively new forms of technology. The question is not whether computers belong in classrooms, but how they can be put to most effective use and how schools can ensure that all of their students are getting the same online opportunities.

Has technology really changed use?
Over the past hundred of years we have seen extraordinary changes in technology and how it has also realy changed us as people. We used to watch the birds and wish we were them and now we are visiting planets that have never seen a terrestrial animal. We used to dream of going round the world in eight days and now we can communicate around the globe in milliseconds.
Technology has changed our lives significantly in ways we good not have even imagined years ago. Whn it comes to wor it is so much easier and more productive. We have more leasure time than ever before and most leisure activitys we are involved in now are someway or another related with using technology. You are reading this on a piece of equipment that, if someone from a hundred years earlier had been brought forward to today, would flatly declare magic and no amount of explaining would convince them otherwise.
Technology computers, gadgets, cleaning, manufacturing etc. etc. has improved wonderfully and I would love to see what it will be like in the next hundred years time...its hard to even imagine. I am sitting here typing this on my laptop and at the same time watching the xfactor on television. Talk about multitasking :) talk about technology, I love it!! And i love the xfactor!!!
Although technology has changed people haven't realy. We as people still have to do the same things to get by in life and to survive. We still have the same basic likes and dislikes. Still fight over the same things. Sure the boys and their toys have changed but the principles haven't.
The fear that I have is not for the technology but for us as people in this ever changing world. Technology changes fast but we as people fear change and hope to resist it. Yet due to economic pressure technology keeps changing whether people need it or not. And also with the economic down turn its a question of will people be able to afford the latest gadjets to keep them up to date in technology.

A smashed window!!
After a normal night out in the big smoke...myself and the girls returned home with two of the lads to the house which is located on the second floor looking over the busy street of anguer street. Everyone was quiet merry and the two boys took a brain wave of hanging out the window of the sitting room and shouting at the passers by. Things turned very ugly when they started shouting at the wrong passers by. It was two girls who were not very polite or very happy and stood shouting abuse back up at the boys. After awhile we all got sick of the two crazy weirdos standing underneth the window when the boys closed down the window and closed the curtains. It wasnt long after until SMASH......the two women were after smashing a glass wine bottel up through the window and smashed the window to pieces!! We all shook with fright and were terified for days after tinking the two bidys were to return to get us!!
House Parrrrtay!!
It was andreas birthday house party when everyone gathered in the house to celebrate the 18 years of andreas life. The night offcially kicked of when walsh and kelly tried to light the candels of the cake by turning on all the hobs in the kitchen trying to create a spark. Resulting in the kitchen filling up it smoke and no candels being lit. With no candels lit we still broke into song of happy birthday when kelly decided to walk out into the hall with the cake and slipt on her arse and smashed the cake to pieces.
On our return to the house after some disco dancing the hole party resumed on into the early hours of the morning when it began to SNOW!!! GearĂ³id riped open the two beanbags which were in the sitting room to the explosion of the little white balls which are the filling of the beanbags. The house was covered in what it looked to be snow, christmas had realy come early.
The next week after all the events of the house party the week before we discovered the same gearĂ³ide was after pissing into the shampoo bottels and also the washing up liquid.....needless to say he will never be let step foot into the house again!!

The Roma
We were walking back from D2 early one morning, Bill Aoibheann, Andrea and myself were hungry and wanted a midnight snack. We found a chipper called the Roma, which was owned by Greeks, we quickly placed an order from the menu, we made the mistake of paying before recieving the food and found ourselves in a conflict with the establishment.
We paid for the meal with a 20euro note for a chicken kebab and expected more than 10euro change, we were outraged when we found ourselves short changed by 10euro! Bill jumped over the counter and grabbed the Greek by the throat, he quickley screamed for backup and Greeks came out of everywhere. Bill was thrown over the counter, but on his way through the air grabbed our correct change and a bit more for compensation as well as the kebab. What an eventful night!
